Ride Expectations

This is B ride, and the pace is fast. We will aim to average between 19 and 21 mph. This is an average speed, and there will be surging or riding much faster at times.

We will briefly regroup when we exit the parking lot onto Pacific to ensure the entire group is together. After turning on to Ashburn Village, we will lower the speed to allow riders to regroup. We will do this again as we approach Carolina Brothers on Ashburn Road.

On the W&OD trail, please split into groups of 5 with separation of 2 bike lengths between groups. Thank you for being courteous to all trail users.

Please be sure to ride with the route loaded, so you can find your way if you are dropped. 

Ride Safety Guidelines:

1. You must be registered for the ride on the RBC website. 
2. Do not cross the centerline of the road or pass slowing/stopped cars. Stay in the right lane of traffic at all times, except for when moving across to make a left turn.
3. You are responsible for the riders behind you. Do not enter an intersection unless it is safe for all of the riders behind you.
4. Help the group flow smoothly by protecting your front wheel, merging carefully into the draft, and holding your line and position into corners. 
5. No e-bikes are allowed. No TT bikes, clip on aero bars or riding in “puppy paws” position. All bikes must have front and rear brakes - no fixies.

We are paper-free, which means you can download the route from Ride with GPS and print it before you come, but we will not have paper cue sheets to distribute at the ride.
