This event is intended for RBC Level 1 riders. Please sign your 2024 waiver if you have not done so already.
Be prepared to stop at all stop signs and traffic lights, don't go unless it's safe for the entire group to follow, you are responsible for the safety of riders behind you. Regroup at the end of Stuart Mill - we'll wait a minute for riders to catch up.
If there are less than four riders for the 1s ride we will join with the 2s. Please respect the pace of the 2s ride.
Our group riding norms/rules:
- This is a ride not a race, help make sure the group flows smoothly by protecting your front wheel, merging into the draft carefully, and not dive bombing into/sprinting out of corners. If you don't want to pull, communicate that clearly to others in the group and stay at the back of the group so as not to disrupt the rotation at the front.
- Look out for the riders behind you by pointing out obstacles and calling out turns.
- Do not cross the yellow line, especially on hills and in corners. Slow down and stay in the correct lane.
- Do not pass cars that are slowed down or stopped in front of the group. Any car that you jump in front of will want to pass ASAP - better to just leave them in front.
- No TT/tri bikes or aero bars on a road bike, no ebikes, and no earbuds.
- Do not blow a snot rocket if there are people behind you, move out of the way and then clear your nose.
- Follow VA bike laws regarding lights, traffic stops, riding two abreast, etc.
Registration:
You must be on the registration list and you must be on time. We will leave promptly.
We are paper-free, which means you can download the route from Ride with GPS and print it before you come, but we will not have paper cue sheets to distribute at the ride.
All riders please sign (or have already signed for 2024) a liability waiver. You can do that HERE. The first ride with us is free. We welcome you to join us on subsequent rides as a member. Membership is $25 per year and you can take care of that HERE.
