Herndon Middle School Bike Shop Program

  • 12/16/2017

  • Herndon Middle School

Registration is closed

On Saturday, December 16 at 11 am, ten children will receive new‐to‐them bicycles, not from Santa, but from his elves who are students in the Herndon Middle School Bike Shop program.

The Bike Shop is an after‐school program at Herndon Middle School that meets on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. The students have been working since September to get these bikes ready. All the bikes were donations from the community that the 7th and 8th graders have evaluated, fixed, and cleaned for the children receiving them.

Recipients range in age from 9 to 17 this year. All their names are provided by Cornerstones' Neighborhood Resource Center in Herndon.

Reston Bicycle Club has traditionally been on hand to help fit helmets (donated by RBC) and fit the bikes to the recipients. This is your chance to volunteer. We need people on hand from 10‐noon at Herndon Middle School on December 16. If you can help, please contact Kelley Westenhoff using westenhoff@gmail.com
