This week the Tuesday Thursday afternoon rides are now starting at 5pm. Also I have moved the Thursday ride this week to Wednesday because the weather looks so good. Rides leaving Herndon will now bypass the closure of the W&OD at Broad Run 2 different ways depending on the ride. Please see the club ride calendar for details.

As the snow and ice start to melt we are able to resume some club rides. Roads are generally clear with debris and pot holes being the main concern. The W & OD trail is still snow covered and unrideable for now. Leaders are our riding and surveying our popular routes and we will expand our rides as soon as we can. Ride safe.

Herndon Middle School Bike Program

The Green Lizard Foundation is working closely with Herndon Middle School to bring back their Bike Program. The HMS Bike Program teaches students bike safety and riding skills as well as basic bike maintenance skills.

The HMS Bike Program is seeking volunteers from our cycling community who can teach safety and riding skills or basic bike maintenance. The class is from 2:30-4:30 at HMS on Thursdays and the first hour includes bike riding to build riding skills and safety awareness. The second hour features our guest mechanics teaching basic bike repairs and maintenance. Please contact Rick Racine at 703 935-3881 if you would like to help our students.
